RSS and Email Alerts

What is RSS?

RSS (Really Simple Syndication) is an easy way to keep abreast of new Books for Understanding lists and features, without having to visit the site daily to check for newly published bibliographies or having your in-box cluttered with email alert messages (although an email service is also offered, see below.)

To access the RSS feeds you'll need either an RSS reader installed on your machine, or the services of an online RSS aggregator. Some browsers, including Firefox, Opera, and Safari, contain an RSS reader that can automatically detect pages that offer feeds and allow you to subscribe within the browser. A number of free and commercial RSS readers are available for download, such as Feedreader or NetNewsWire. Online aggregators such as Bloglines collect feeds for you. (A web search for "feed reader" or "rss reader" will locate other services.)

Subscribe to Books for Understanding RSS feeds

Feed                  URL
New List Topics  RSS    http://www.booksforunderstanding/press/bfu.xml
Books of Note   RSS    http://www.booksforunderstanding/press/booksofnote.xml

After installing an RSS reader or setting up an online aggreagtor service, copy the feed URL into the "New Feed" or "Add Feed" dialog of the reader or aggregator; or use the RSS-reader function of your browser to subscribe automatically.
